In Their Words: TVUSD Governing Board

Over the past 10 years, the Tanque Verde Unified School District's budget has weathered reductions in state support exceeding $4.4 million. We remain a top-ranked public school district thanks in large part to our community's commitment to education and to continued approval of our Maintenance and Operations Override.

Your YES vote for this override will NOT create an increase in your tax rate; it is a continuation of the budget overwrite already in place. This budget override is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Should the community fail to pass this override, it will adversely impact the District's ability to provide instruction in art and music, and will cause reductions in library, health services, instructional support, and an increase in class sizes.

We encourage members of the community to vote "YES" to approve the override. This budget override funding is vital to ensure the continued high level of educational achievement in our schools, which enhances property values across our community.

We urge you to vote YES on November 6th.

Respectfully submitted,
Tanque Verde Unified School District Governing Board

In Their Words is a series in which we share letters written in support of the Budget Override and Bond ballot measures. These letters will appear in the Voter Information Packet provided by Pima County to voters. We will also include original missives by members of the Tanque Verde community.
