In Their Own Words: Elizabeth and John Spilotro

An example of Community, Arts, and Education...
All in One at Tanque Verde Schools
Strong public schools are essential to community strength and property values. We purchased our home here because we believed Tanque Verde to be a community committed to academic excellence. Such a commitment means development of local workforce talent, as well as of our three sons' individual talents so that they can find success in the future.

We view override requests like special assessments in a homeowners' association; the state only provides so much in education funding (cut to the core over the last ten-plus years), and each district gets the same. If we want more money to get into OUR schools, we have to vote to approve it in an override.

That simple.

TVUSD ranked in the top 10 statewide for both traditional public and charter districts, and puts the most dollars in the classroom countywide. Continuing the override previously approved by our community residents will have virtually zero impact on taxes while ensuring investment in the programs that are key to TVUSD's success.

Please join us in voting yes on Prop 466 to renew and reaffirm Tanque Verde's commitment to academic excellence and quality of life. Our children and property values will reap the benefits.

Elizabeth and John Spilotro

===================================

In Their Words is a series in which we share letters written in support of the Budget Override and Bond ballot measures. These letters will appear in the Voter Information Packet provided by Pima County to voters. We will also include original missives by members of the Tanque Verde community.
