As members of the local law enforcement and fire protection public service agencies which serve the Tanque Verde Unified School District community, we care about the safety of students and staff in our local schools. There is a heightened awareness in our community of the need for attention to school security and safety measures. As evidenced by recent tragic events that have occurred at schools across our nation, school districts need resources to secure school campuses and bring them up to meet the standard of the current recommendations for school safety and security. The Tanque Verde school district has been proactively working to evaluate security needs on their school campuses. They have identified issues which will require resources to make the recommended improvements. We are working to keep our community safe. Please support our local schools in their effort to improve school safety and security. Deputy Scott McLeod School Resource Officer Pima Co
Kaitlyn & Taylor Our names are Taylor, Kaitlyn, and Christopher, and we are jointly penning this brief letter to you to ask for your support of Proposition 466 in this upcoming voting cycle. As recent graduates from Tanque Verde High School, we understand the importance of funding for our school activities, inside and outside of the classroom. The extracurricular activities we have been able to participate in, such as marching band, student government, and athletics (to name a few), have shaped us into well-rounded individuals. These activities have also given us leadership experience and professional skills that will allow us to succeed in college and in our future careers. Attending school in the Tanque Verde Unified School District (TVUSD) has influenced us to be the high-achieving students we are today, not only because of the rigorous academics offered, but also because of the after-school organizations that strengthened our overall education. We moved to the Tanque Verde Unified School District in 2009. In the years since, we have taken pride in our schools and the education they gave our children. But they need our help now. After years of state underfunding of capital for school facilities maintenance, our schools are suffering. The district is asking our help to repair and preserve the schools. Faced with aging buildings and equipment, and amid new concerns about school safety and security, there now exists a critical need for capital funding for our schools. The "band-aid" fix approach cannot continue. We can and should come together as a community to provide local support of our community's most valuable assets. We must act now to ensure the continued quality and safety of our schools. We do this for our community, our students, our future American workforce, and our property values. Please take action by approving this funding initiative for our local schools. VOTE YES for Proposition 46
